Possible to Search/Filter Using Boolean Operator 'Not?'
Is it possible to search using the "not" option? I want to easily get from a list of constituents selected with other criteria, but who have no email addresses in the database. I don't want to create a tag for that. Rather, I'd like to be able to search and retrieve lists and when a particular field is blank get that sublist.
Perhaps it can be done and I just don't know how.
Dave

Hi David,
That is not currently possible with a straight search. You can accomplish it for email addresses by using the automatic "Invalid Email" tag to either add or remove the constituents without a valid email using the.
However, I think what you want is the ability to do this somewhat arbitrarily, and that is something that we will be adding in the near future. We have a major release in it's final stages of development and testing that will allow for more boolean type searches and allow more flexibility with the type of matching per field (for instance, if you want to search for an email that is blank/not present, you will be able to do that).
In the meantime, the way to handle the NOT part of the search is by building up a list and deselecting the results for queries containing the constituents you don't want on the list.
Thanks!
Nick

Thank you, Nick, for the detailed explanation. Looking forward to your new
developments and the enhanced search ability.
Is "Invalid Email" automatically assigned to a constituent by the system
when no email field is populated in a record?
You're correct, I was looking for more searching capability on any field.
Always looking for more of a good thing!!

Hi David,
Yes, that tag is automatically created for records that don't have an
active email, or that don't have any email address at all. The same is
true for invalid phone, and invalid address (for phone numbers and
mailing addresses respectively).
Thanks!

Nick,
What I need is a way to create a List for download of Valid Mailing
Addresses for all constituents so we can create mailing labels. I can
filter on the default tag of Invalid Mailing addresses for those
constituents without valid mailing addresses, but that's not the List I
want to export.
Rather than manipulate the downloaded spreadsheet of *all* constituents,
how can I export a list of only Valid Mailing Addresses. I must be missing
something. If I could filter on constituents with* any* entry in the Zip
Code field, that would do it.
Thanks,

Hi David,
I think that the search you want is the "Contact Methods = Mail" search,
like this:
https://vica.littlegreenlight.com/constituents/search/mail/1/contact_prefs/1/advanced/1
That will filter out any constituents who don't have a valid mailing
address in LGL.
Does that do it?
Thanks!
